We started our hot day by going to our village's celebration. Their parade consisted of their emergency vehicles and a bunch of ford trucks (from the local dealer) decorated by the little league teams. We missed the flag ceremony. If you call it "the 11 o'clock flag ceremony" in the paper, you should not hold it at 10:40. We had walked to the baseball park, but they didn't really have their act together. The line for concessions was so long, and it was already so hot. Since it's next door to the mall, we went to the food court for lunch. We checked out a couple fun spots, then walked through the air conditioned mall to the north side, and left for home from the Sears exit closest to our house. We were still melting by the time we got home, but grateful it was not more humid, and that we had AC waiting for us.
Emily made the prettiest and tasty dessert. |
We went to a fabulous barbecue, hosted by our friend Jamie, where we enjoyed great food and friends, followed by watching that village's firework show from her balcony. Henry would not come outside during the fireworks, which was to be expected.
In the shade of the evening it was still really warm, but bearable. Much better than it had been earlier.
