sad and sweet. He's asked "where's Grandma?" several times.
Still, today has been a good day. I finally got the minivan back after
nearly two weeks at the body shop, our new couch came and they
actually got it inside the house this time, Nick got home early and we
made romesco sauce from our garden tomatoes and pesto with our basil.
We dirtied lots of dishes, but as I wash them I can take solace in the
fact that we expect to have a dishwasher in a few weeks. We got a
price from the contractor today and gave him the green light to put a
built-in dishwasher in our kitchen.

was finding out Nick had recovered the stethoscope I used when I
worked as an RN. Nick used it until it went missing in December and he
got a replacement as his Christmas gift. But recently he saw the head
of anesthesiology examining a patient with it. It's a very uncommon
stethoscope so it was easy to spot, and it has my name engraved on it.
It's so exciting to find it since I had completely given up on it.

Someone etched the three windows and the paint on the passenger side of the van when it was parked by Loyola Hospital yesterday. I hate people sometimes. I also hate police agencies, which I may blog about later.
