09/02/2012 Sunday: His Dream Come True

The kids and I visited Nick's Dad's family.  Nick's younger brother was really into Thomas as a young kid.  Henry had so much fun playing with these long-stored toys.  You know is having fun because this is his "I'm having too much fun to smile" face.

09/01/2012 Saturday: Exploring Toots's House

Toots and my grandpa moved into this house just a week or two before I got married.  At that point, my parents still lived two doors away.  As we visited, Toots she showed me prints of some film she had just found and developed.  (Please take a moment and explain to your children what film was.)  It had pictures of my Grandpa at a mission farewell or homecoming, and was probably about 6 years old.

08/31/2012 Friday: Special Visitor, First Airman Dana

We had a special visitor, first Airman Dana, who was on weekend leave from Texas to visit her family.  Our families have been friends since our parents were newlyweds.  We were in the same LDS Ward in Salt Lake, and then both moved to the same Bountiful congregation in 1986.
She's completed multiple levels of Air Force training to be an EMT, and is continuing on to more advanced medical training.

It's official, Gigi does not have enough sense to come in from the rain.

08/30/2012 Thursday: My Contribution

We all have different skills in life.  We also have our "el gaupo," the areas in our life that we do not function well or at all.  My sister-in-law was moving, but moving is one of my "el guapo" things.  I'm pretty much useless when it comes to moving.  We have moved multiple times, but we would still be trying to pack up our first apartment if it weren't for Nick.  I find it challenging emotionally to prepare to move, and I also lack the organization or prioritizing skills necessary.  However, I'm a very adequate babysitter, so my contribution was to babysit her sweet boy while the people who are actually helpful worked on the move.
These pictures were taken in just a few minutes in the evening, in whatever clothes the kids happened to have on. Hence, Henry is wearing his usual Lightning McQueen outfit.

"el Guapa" credit goes to the movie "Three Amigos" and my cousin Joan.

08/29/2012 Wednesday: Running Wild with Bluegrass

We went to my mom's ward party, expertly organized by my cousin Kristy.  The pavilion was connected to a park and playground.  I think Henry ran multiple miles during the evening.  The bluegrass band that played was good.  A good time was had by all.

Tuesday 8/28/2012: Who are These Wild Kids?

As much as Henry fears baths, he loved the shallow water features at Thanksgiving Point.
We visited their $2 Tuesday event with our friend Jessica.
He was running wild.  He insisted on taking his clothes off, and it was all I could do to get him to keep his underwear on.
As we left the water, the monitor told me that Henry was her favorite kid all day, "He's just so friendly."
We also visited the Thanksgiving Point farm and dinosaur museum.  The dinosaur museum had everything Henry is afraid of, except flying, wrapped into really terrifying displays.  We don't need to go back for a very long time.

Monday 8/27/2012: This is What Fun Looks Like

My parents took Henry and two other children to Lagoon.  It may be one of the happiest days of his life.  He loved the tiny boat ride and the train.  Also, he loved his giant green slushy, which my parents would have never bought for me when I was a kid.
