2012/10/27 Saturday: Halloween Party Time

Gigi would not let me dress her as Minnie Mouse, but she let her dad.  I took the kids to the mall for a morning party (which ended up being lame and overcrowded.)
While we were at the mall, Nick was at the lab.  This is him behind me at the light on his way home.  We then went to downtown Oak Park for their trick-or-treating event.  Gigi totally understands what is going on, and expects that she gets candy in her bucket whenever Henry does.  If you're too slow, you will hear her start to yell, "Me!Me!"  The kids got a few pieces of candy, I visited a shoe store I've been meaning to go to, and we saw some fun new stores.  The highlight for me was when ladies from a nail salon came outside to take pictures of our little Minnie Mouse.  She was so cute, even strangers love her.  Henry was also adorable.

That evening was our ward party.  It was great.  Any party with a bounce house and cotton candy is bound to be good.  The kids got lots of candy, and began eating it immediately.  We have a great family in our ward that keeps lots of interesting creatures in their home.  For their trunk presentation, you would knock on their trunk, and a skull container would emerge from the trunk.  Then you had to reach inside the skull to get your candy, but there were also giant Madagascar cockroaches in the skull.  The idea is, you're a little creeped out but you reach around the bugs to get your candy.  He says he's done it this way for about 10 years, and this is the first year anyone has taken a bug, and actually two people took bugs.  One was returned to him at sacrament meeting the next morning.  The last bug remained unaccounted for.
Gigi would not wear her costume.  Good thing she is cute anyway.  Nick is "Dr Frankenstein" in the vein of Gene Wilder.  His hair was pretty crazy, but I learned we needed more hair products to really get a dramatic effect.  We had so much fun, it's hard to believe we still have the actual day of Halloween to look forward to.
