2013/10/04 Friday: Gigi on the Stairs

2013/10/03 Thursday: Toddler Tantrum

Notice she has marker all over her legs.  I fear that she wants to be a tattoo artist when she grows up.

2013/10/02 Wednesday: And So It Begins

I've said that we can't have Lego at our house because we're not good at picking up our toys.  But we are going to give Duplo (big Lego) a try.  I found a bag of Duplo at one of the consignment sales last weekend, which is a rare find.

2013/10/01 Tuesday: Dental Horror

I didn't see it happen.  Georgia somehow bit down on a paper clip, forcing it between her teeth.  It's pushing her lip down, but her lip is fine.  The panic she felt caused her to bite down again, and I didn't want to get my finger bitten off.  I was able to pull the clip up and out without too much problem.

2013/09/30 Monday: Swingaholic

We are trying to spend every one of these beautiful fall days outside.  Gigi would spend all day getting pushed in the swing if she could.

2013/09/28 Saturday: Shower and Shopping

I was assistant to the host for a baby shower for my friend Jamie.  This was a "sip'n'see" as she's already had her baby, and lower key in nature since this was her second girl.  One of my assignments was the drink, "Mormon Mimosas", which is just sprite, orange juice and grenadine syrup.

Jamie's mom and sister were in town for the shower and the baby blessing the next day.

This weekend was the semi-annual consignment sales that most of my kids' wardrobes come from, so I was shopping from night and early Saturday morning.

2013/09/27 Friday: Lego Maniacs

We wanted to have a family outing on Nick's day off, and Nick chose Legoland (out of the options presented to him.  If you ask him what he wants to do, he just says that whatever you want to do is fine.)

2013/09/26 Thursday: Writing His Name

He insisted on writing his own name tag at the library today.  I don't think anyone could read it.

2013/09/25 Wednesday: Guitar Class

I'm taking a six-week intro to guitar class through the village, but I joined the class two weeks into the course.  I was worried I'd hold them back, but it turns out that something from my quarter class of guitar at BYU in 2001 was buried deep, deep down, and I'm able to keep up.

2013/09/24 Tuesday: Johanson's Pumpkin Patch

We spent a perfect afternoon at the pumpkin patch/petting zoo/ bounce house farm.  There were few people there, so we didn't have to wait for anything.  We went on the "train" ride, hay ride, we fed the animals, and the kids definitely got our money's worth out of the bounce houses.  Miss C came with us, which makes any event a party.

2013/09/23 Monday: A Glimpse at Their Future

They love trying on glasses now.  It may be less fun in just a few years when they'll actually need to buy them.

2013/09/22 Sunday: Happy Birthday Nick!

Nick was post-call, so we were able to spend the evening with him to celebrate his birthday.  He wouldn't let me make him a birthday cake, so instead his candle is in a plum.  The kids were disappointed by the lack of cake.

2013/09/20 Friday: The "Fall" Festival

We went to the Village Fall festival.  Henry and Gigi loved decorating pumpkins, playing in the bounce house, and the loud and inappropriate music selections.  They also loved the rare treat of playing on the playground after dark, at least until Henry fell off the swing into the soft, wet mulch with forward momentum and his mouth open.
They both had mixed feelings about the firework dispay at the end.  I just felt bad for the momma duck and her chicks on the pond that had to endure it as the most terrifying twenty minutes of their life.

2013/09/19 Thursday: Another Ride

Gigi is killing me on these rides around the block.  They start out happy, they end with me carrying a screaming toddler and tricycle home.  And there's about 35 tantrums between the two events.

2013/09/18 Wednesday: Chicago Trauma Society Dinner

The Chicago Trauma Society is dinner and a show, only the show is pictures of mangled extremities.

2013/09/17 Tuesday: Park with Friends

Started with the library, then spent a lot of time with friends at the park.

2013/09/16 Monday: Nick Has a Day Off

Nick finally got a haircut.  I love it.  Today was his day off, and I miss him, so a friend watched our kids for a couple hours while we went on a walk on the local Forest Preserve trail and went shopping to buy him this new shirt.  I can't even remember the last time he went shopping for a new shirt.

2013/09/15 Sunday: A Sure Sign of Love

Nick loves them enough to cave to their crazy demands of Mickey Mouse pancakes.  And they're even made from scratch.

2013/09/14 Saturday: Go Speed Racer

I had to take the kids with me to a western suburb for a Relief Society brunch, so I figured we were half way to Legoland and we should spend the day there.  The kids had lots of fun, even though it was crowded.  We ran into friends from church, which I always find funny since the Chicago area has more than ten million people, and I only know about a hundred of them.

2013/09/13 Friday: Do It Herself

She insists on getting a drink herself, even if that means that it takes forever because she can't figure out how to have her mouth in the right place and hold the button down at the same time.

2013/09/12 Thursday: Only Herself to Blame

She got all wet playing in the yard, and was not happy about it.  But she has only herself to blame, since she was the one playing with the hose.

2013/09/11 Wednesday: Day of Remembrance

I know my kids don't understand 9/11, and I don't want them to yet.  But I am happy to teach them a love of liberty and country.  Our wardrobe choices were guided almost exclusively by Culver's offer of free ice cream to those dressed in red, white, and blue.
