Tuesday 9/27/11: Vain Hero

Henry loves to look at himself in the mirror, often making faces and
sort of putting on a show for himself. The superman cape just gave him
another excuse.

Monday 9/26/11: She Tucked Herself In

She used a grab-and-roll maneuver to tuck herself in like this. She's
also wearing new winter pajamas I bought at a consignment sale on
Saturday. It seems like it is too early for winter pajamas, but it is
chilly. Our next door neighbor picked up a Thomas sweater for Henry at
the same sale, and he's instantly found his new favorite outfit.

Sunday 9/25/11: Kicked Off Socks

Saturday 9/24/11: He Knows What's Coming

He started to cry as soon as he hears the water running, and he wasn't
even in the bathroom.

Friday 9/23/11: Bounce House Joy

The kids and I went to our Village's fall party last night. Henry decorated a pumpkin, and by decorated I mean he covered nearly the whole thing with paint. His favorite thing was the bounce house. It's the first time he's been excited to get in one, and I had a hard time getting him to leave. We walked over the the double stroller I bought at a garage sale recently. The only trouble was in trying to get the stroller, kids, and a pumpkin covered in wet paint back to the house. I balanced the pumpkin successfully the whole way home, then accidentally dropped it on our garage floor. So close!

Monday 9/12/11: I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home

Nick came home after a thirty hour shift. We really haven't seen him
much since he left for his Grandma's funeral Thursday night, even
though he returned Saturday night.

Friday 9/9/11: London Calling

We now have a VOIP phone connected to our computer (Magic Jack). It seems pretty good, and the service is only $20 a year. The device is $40 and includes the first year of service. Henry loves to talk on the phone and occasionally demands to call Nick or other interesting people.

Thursday 9/8/11: The Finished Product

The dishwasher now looks like it was born to be there, thanks to good cabinet work. They took a 36" cabinet out to put the dishwasher in, then used it to build a 12" cabinet that seemlessly matches the others in the kitchen.

And for good measure,  a picture of Georgia:

Monday 9/5/11: Cotton Candy Glutton

We went to the Italian Festival hosted by an adjacent village. I felt
like I was 15 years too old to be hanging out by the rides, and thirty
years too young to be hanging out at the main stage. It was
entertaining though. The entertainment was emceed in Italian, so we
never really did figure out what was going on.

Sunday 9/4/11: Rugrats

We took Nick dinner at the hospital today. We gave it to him around
4:30, and it was the first he'd eaten since dawn. I'm just not tough
enough for his job.

Saturday 9/3/11: Kate's Nail Salon

Henry insisted on having his nails painted, and he insisted on bright
red polish.
We took it off before church.

Friday 9/2: The Happiest Day of My Life

Not really the happiest day of my life, but getting a dishwasher is
kind of a big deal.

It was actually a really stressful day, compounded by the Ford being
in the shop. But the results are I have a dishwasher, the Ford was
fixed for free, and Katie got here Friday night.

Thursday 9/1/11: A Small Victory

I finally sewed the nursing cover for a friend. I meant to do it weeks
ago and now the baby's more than a week old.

We dropped our Ford off at the dealer after the power steering failed
to work for left turns (but right is still fine.) My dad diagnosed it
over the phone as a rack & pin problem. We hoped he was right because
we had that replaced less than a year ago at the dealer and it's still
under warranty.

Wednesday 8/31/11: Happiest Day of His Life

We went to sears to buy a dishwasher, and while we were in the mall
Henry rode the mall train ride. He looked pretty serious while riding,
but I think he was focusing on having the time of his life.
